Cost of operation
Electricity costs cents. Petrol costs euros.
In city traffic it isn't the purchase price that decides — it's the running cost. We show you transparently what 100 kilometres really cost in electricity or fuel, and what you save over a year.

At 15,000 kilometres per year: e-scooter €210, 125cc petrol scooter €605, compact petrol car €1,386. Saving versus the car: €1,176 per year.
Vehicle tax
The e-scooter runs on an insurance plate — no annual vehicle tax. A petrol car pays roughly €100–250 a year depending on engine size and CO₂.
Maintenance & wear
Less wear: no engine oil, no spark plugs, no timing belt, fewer moving parts. On models with regenerative braking the brakes are spared too.
All figures conservative, electricity or fuel only · as of 2026.
Assumptions & sources
- Electricity: €0.40/kWh — avg. German household rate (Destatis / BDEW 2025/26). On a commercial tariff (~€0.25/kWh) the e-scooter is cheaper still.
- Petrol: €1.68/L — Super E10, ADAC full-year average 2025. Real 2026 prices were higher.
- E-scooter: 3.5 kWh/100 km — year-round, from the wall (manufacturer figure ~2.7).
- 125cc petrol scooter: 2.4 L/100 km — real-world (Spritmonitor).
- Compact petrol car: 5.5 L/100 km — WLTP combined (real-world tends higher).
As of 2026. Deliberately conservative — the real saving is likely higher.
For business & fleets
A fleet multiplies every cent.
Delivery fleets cover serious mileage — and that's exactly when the energy-cost gap counts. Run the numbers for your fleet size and mileage, on the same conservative assumptions as above.
Your fleet saves€1,974in energy costs per year versus a 125cc fleetVersus the 125cc fleet, that is €394 per vehicle per year.€5,880 versus a car fleet
High mileage pays off
The cost gap grows with every kilometre: a business that delivers daily doesn't save once — it saves on every run, and again with every vehicle in the fleet.
Maintenance scales too
No engine oil, no spark plugs, fewer wear parts — what's true for one vehicle multiplies across a fleet. We schedule maintenance windows outside your rush hours.
Same conservative assumptions as above — energy/fuel only, calculated at the household electricity rate (€0.40/kWh). On a commercial tariff (~€0.25/kWh) the case gets even stronger.
